SDAS - Culbin Forest 14th & 15th January 2012
The Culbin Forest trail was a mixture of hard packed forest road, in parts stony, with also sand, grass & heather trails. But was frozen rock solid! Competition assessed & teams planned & prepared, John took out his heavier 4 wheeled rig to give better braking power to slow his chosen team of 6 whose feet would be more likely cope with travelling at a speed over the frozen ground.
First day finished with worn nails on his 10 year old running in lead. Dropping 2 dogs off the team to reduce speed further and using tough boots where needed, John completed the 4.9 mile trail second day to finish on the podium with a silver medal.
I had the more powerful dogs in my smaller teams, but my runs were not without incident. Against good competition, my 4 dog team finished the same 4.9 mile trail with a 15 second lead but with more worn nails. Running with tough boots on the ‘refugee’ but suffering a rear wheel puncture took its toll on my second day run and although my finish time was almost identical to day 1, my opponent had managed to steal the advantage and I was now 10 seconds behind to also take home the silver.
My 3 dog team had a blast both days against yet more quality competition with one of our 10 year olds guiding the 2 youngsters on the team faultlessly round the 3.9 mile trail. In spite of a missing front wheel nut necessitating a last minute wheel change just before the countdown in the start chute and the trail taking its toll on nails yet again we powered through the finish with a 12 second lead. Then with old faithful running second day in tough boots and snapping the 3 wheeled rig just a mile into the trail (forcing me to physically hold the brush-bow in place), struck gold with an overall lead of 49 seconds, also beating the open teams
My 2 dog dream team, with a borrowed rig for the second heat and again in tough boots, kept up with the 3.9 mile gold rush both days & finished on top with a 10 second lead.
A scoop of‘No-Ake’ was then added to the CP30 rations for a couple of days & an increased dose of ‘Get-Over!’ for the senior team members to prevent stiffness in their joints, plus a few days well earned rest to recover in time for their ‘Crufts Magazine’ photo-shoot later on that week!

The poo eating has stopped!
Dear Ceri.
I am writing to say a huge thankyou!!!
Our 10month old choc lab has been a poo eater for almost the entire time we have had her (since 8wks old). We have tried everything we could think of seeking support from other owners of dogs that poo eat and vets, nutritionalists and behavouralists - and to be honest, had almost given up.
After speaking to a friend whose dog eats your food, we decided to look at your website and eventually spoke to you on the phone. We talked about our dogs (3 labs - all with different requirements) and home situation, as well as indepth diet discussions, and decided to try your advice (we had nothing to lose as it couldn't be any worse!).
I have to say, we are over the moon to be able to say IT WORKED! (in the first day!!) The poo eating has stopped and her stools have become more normal, and we can now finally begin to enjoy our gorgeous dog.
Thank you so much for treating us as individuals, and following us through a very stressful problem.
We will continue to follow your advice and will be recommending anybody with the same issues to yourselves.
If anyone is reading this and is having the same problem with a dog, dont give up. There is help out there, honest!!
