Gundog Handlers

Suzy Burton

How did you first become involved with the dogs Suzi?

Suzi: I got started ‘by accident’ ……….

  • I got my first Weimaraner in 1994 because I’d looked after one previously…..
  • Was then dragged to a Gundog training class
  • Soon became hooked (she was far too good for me but I gained an awful lot of knowledge from her)
  • I blagged my way onto a shoot in order to use her…...
  • Took up shooting
  • I also showed her …..
  • She was eventually made up to Ch Silberstern Moonlight von Trubon, ‘Jally’
  • Jally became my foundation bitch……

Which dogs and breeds do you own now?

Suzi: Currently 4 Weimaraner bitches at home and 3 dogs with co-owners, plus 1 Teckel bitch at home.

What do you consider your most memorable moment?

Suzi: I have two very special moments - making up a Champion with my first dog, and getting my first field trial award.

What other successes have you had?

Suzi:

From Ch Silberstern Moonlight von Trubon - my Weimaraner Ch and first bitch: -

‘A’ litter (by UK field trial line, 1.5.99):
Medoc (Trubon Asko Truman) got VJP, HZP and VGP in Germany. He and brothers Jester (Trubon Argent Treat) and Casper (Trubon Arco Trident) won UK GWT awards.
My bitch Fenny multiple WCGB/WA Top Field Trial dog.

‘B’ litter (by German VGP dog, 13.12.02):
Exported 2 to Germany - Aloxe and Birko passed VJP and HZP tests (Trubon Bialoxe Traum and Trubon Birko Truc); Kaos (Trubon Bikaos Tryst) multiple WCGB/WA and Gundog League Top Agility Dog.
My bitches Bibe (Trubon Bibe Tres) multiple WCGB/WA Top Field Trial dog, 1st Novice GWT and German tests VJP and HZP; Hana (Trubon Bren Tartuf) 1st Novice GWT and German tests VJP and HZP.

All my bitches were graded at Spring Pointing Tests, all worked on shoots picking up, on the peg and shot over.

‘C’ litter (by English/Dutch working dog, 12.06.06):
Too young to tell as yet, but 2 in German, 1 in Icelandic field homes, 2 in UK field homes, 2 in agility trainers’ homes… let’s see!

Teckels - Ubine vom Schutthause (German Import) aka Teasel:-

I have taken her to Germany to run in Youth Trial and Field Trial (including blood track) - she won 1st Prize in each and only needs one more to become an International Working Champion (IACh).

Had 2 litters, to stalkers.

Are you involved in any other canine activities?

Suzi: Yes……..

Training for HPRs, occasional Spaniels and Labs in groups and one-to-one.

Boarding and in-house training - one or two at a time.

Occasional breeding for working homes only (‘D’ litter from half-German bitch planned).

Do you have any comments about CSJ feeds?

Suzi:  I don’t ‘do’ endorsements but in this case I believe in CSJ, having tried out most of their foods on my dogs over the past year. Result is glossy coats, appropriate energy levels and no e-numbers or revolting contents to worry about… even the ‘fussy eaters’ dive in. And half the price of ‘premium’ foods!

The poo eating has stopped!

Dear Ceri.

I am writing to say a huge thankyou!!!

Our 10month old choc lab has been a poo eater for almost the entire time we have had her (since 8wks old). We have tried everything we could think of seeking support from other owners of dogs that poo eat and vets, nutritionalists and behavouralists - and to be honest, had almost given up.

After speaking to a friend whose dog eats your food, we decided to look at your website and eventually spoke to you on the phone. We talked about our dogs (3 labs - all with different requirements) and home situation, as well as indepth diet discussions, and decided to try your advice (we had nothing to lose as it couldn't be any worse!).

I have to say, we are over the moon to be able to say IT WORKED! (in the first day!!) The poo eating has stopped and her stools have become more normal, and we can now finally begin to enjoy our gorgeous dog.

Thank you so much for treating us as individuals, and following us through a very stressful problem.

We will continue to follow your advice and will be recommending anybody with the same issues to yourselves.

If anyone is reading this and is having the same problem with a dog, dont give up. There is help out there, honest!!

Natalie
