Obedience Handlers

Magdalena and Piotr Michalscy

Based in Poland, Magdalena and Piotr own a working Border Collie kennel.

Magda is a very successful trainer in Obedience, Dog Frisbee and Herding and also deals with dogs with behavioral problems such as aggression, hyperactivity, timidity or owner separation anxiety.

Their focus lies in developing excellent lines of working sheepdogs and sporting dogs.

Their own dogs

Magda and Piotr are the proud owners of 12 Border Collies as well as 3 Scottish Terriers and a black Labrador named Galliano.

How did it all begin?

Magda says, "Many years ago I started to train my Airedale Terriers (there were two of them then) in obedience, skijoring and guarding.

Then the obedience and frisbee era came about and we decided to get ourselves a Border Collie.  Our Border Collies have since enabled us to broaden our horizons in shepherding, an area we are actively developing."

Which of your numerous successes stands out most in your memory?

“My greatest success stories involve dogs that I have managed to save from being put down, or being taken away from their owners, thanks to our work together.   It's incredibly gratifying to see how a relationship that was on the rocks, develops into one of mutual trust.

This for me is success……..helping dogs and their owners.”

Magda goes on to talk about other memorable successes

“Jezzio and Frisco at the outset had countless successes in Obedience and Frisbee. Frisco won his first obedience competition at the age of 6 months! Frisco, Sake, Sam, Yoda and the rest of our BC gang show an incredible talent for herding.

Our dogs have had many dog shows achievements, but this is not our priority with our Border Collies, as they are not show type but working type."

The focus now

Magda emphasizes that their focus now lies in developing excellent lines of working sheepdogs and sport dogs and therefore their successes are reflected in the satisfaction of owners who are showing commitment to developing the instinct, drive and aptitude that Magda and Piotr’s pups possess.

She adds, “I must say that I am astounded by the commitment of our friends."

Magda and Piotr have even more to offer ..

Their kennels have grooming facilities and a training centre for herding.

They organize herding seminars with world-renowned trainers and regularly provide dog frisbee and obedience lessons...

Magda adds, “Of course we sell CSJ!”

Donna Waring 'Calm Down!'

I wanted to let you know about the success I’ve had with Calm Down and my fourth puppy Kizzy.  I took Kizzy to training group and she was barked at solidly for 4 weeks of the class by one of those little pug crosses.   By week 5 my pup Kizzy had started to retaliate and bark back, and she was looking at the door all the time and was very uncomfortable.  This then escalated into a fear of small dogs where she would bark every time she passed one.

I gave her a break for 3 or 4 weeks from training and then took her back, but the minute we got outside the venue the barking and panting and stress behaviour began again, even though this was a different group of puppies.

So I then began working with her myself, introducing her to dogs of various different sizes, taking her free running off the lead with them and things, and I also put her on Calm Down.  I then spent about 5 months ringing around various dog clubs and groups to try and find one to take Kizzy to.  The problem I had was that when they heard I was totally blind, they insisted on me bringing someone with me, and as I live alone, I had no one to take.

Finally, I found one last week where they were willing for me and Kizzy to come alone.  I took her along and all my hard work and the Calm Down had done its stuff.  She was absolutely fine and just barked twice the whole of the time we were there.  So on week two which was yesterday, they were doing a Kennel Club Bronze test.  I put Kizzy in thinking it would be good practice for her even if she failed, and she passed!  What is more, she greeted a little Jack Russell Chihuahua cross nicely without barking, which hadn’t been there last week.  And she sat beside me minding her own business while I had cuddles with the dog.

This is the best calming product I have ever tried.  Don’t get me wrong, you have to put the work in.  But if you work hard and use the product in conjunction, you can achieve a lot.
